Filming The Grand Prix Just Before I left - Update

Today is the day that I get to go filming with the BBC !

I have packed my bag with lunch and got everything together including research on filming.

I will be getting to the Grand Prix for 10am as the race practice starts at 2pm.

We will be going by car to the event.

Cannot wait to get there !

Filming at the Grand Prix - After filming

My day was absolutely amazing

It started off when I got to the ticket stands.

I asked one of the team there about what was happening, they knew I was coming and asked to see the email that I printed off and also some ID including the ticket I had.

They took me to an area dedicated to the BBC.

They provided me with a drink and asked me what I was doing at college and what I would like to happen from this experience.

I explained that I am doing a media course at college and love the idea of filming.

They explained that I couldn't film but I watch the action as it takes place.

I was given instruction to follow a camera operator throughout his journey taking breaks in-between.

I was given a special pass so that I could follow him.

He was fantastic in the way he handled the camera and moved so effortlessly around the Pits and when speaking to drivers.

He showed me how the camera operates and where the feeds go to.

I couldn't do anything to help but only watch.

At the end I got the chance to ask any questions I had about the filming.

I asked how you get into filming like this and they said that you need to understand everything fully around the camera, how they operate and finding experience with them. You need to look for experience in the film trade/industry even if it starts from small and work your way up.

I loved my day filming at the Grand Prix, it was hot and hard work following the cameraman around but rewarding to watch.

Would love to definitely do this again another year and in another location again.
